  2. Great blog!
Your advice about not riding wild horses is excellent. Your baseball skills seem very highly developed. Keep up the awesome work.

    Giddyup!

  3. Dear Madison,
This is very interesting information- the link to Wikipedia, Therapy Dogs. I discovered that the first therapy dog was actually a Yorkshire (Yorkie) Terrier! I didn’t realize that fact and thought that Golden Retrievers were the dog of choice. I learned something “new!” Perhaps, I really should consider getting a Yorkie; might be good therapy for me!

  4. Madison,
This morning I saw a crow and it actually hopped! I had never seen a crow hop. They have an unusual hop, they jump up just a bit, and hop, hop, land, hop, hop, land. It’s funny to watch them move! So, that’s an interesting way to describe a way to move on the field, “crow hopping.” Have you ever seen a crow, hopping?

  5. Hi, Madison! I would like to read about your fish. How many are in the tank and are they all the same type of fish? Do your fish have names?

  6. ‘Special-needs’ tortoise recovering at nature centre:

Wildlife rehabilitators are searching for the owners of an African tortoise, a species usually found in the Sahara desert that was picked up meandering along Cowichan Lake Road.
The female tortoise was found by passersby last week and taken to the Island Wild-life Natural Care Centre on Saltspring Island, where she is recovering from her adventure with the help of heat lamps and a heating pad.
The tortoise was sent to see Ian Laurie, a veterinarian in Nanaimo who specializes in exotic pets, and he confirmed the species, ensured she was healthy and estimated she is between 50 and 70 years old.
The lifespan of African spurred tortoises, the third largest species of tortoise in the world, is 50 to 150 years.
The tortoise has a thick, multi-shade shell and feet that look like two armadillos sticking out the front, Ballerone said.
    “She’s absolutely beautiful.”
The tortoise weighs seven kilograms, according to Chase River Veterinary Hospital, where she was taken for her checkup. The oldest tortoises in the wild can weigh up to 91 kilograms.

  7. Hi! I enjoy reading your “posts!” Great blogging! I notice that you are also posting great comment replies. You include a “greeting,” a sentence or a “reflection-” (what you are thinking) about the comment and a “closing-“( Sincerely, Best, etc.) to your replies. I’m impressed! I like your idea to post about your Back to School reflections and look forward to reading your next post.

  8. Bonjour Madison: (that’s French for Hello)
My home is near the beach. I get to meet lots of cute dogs out walking during the day. Today, I got to meet a really cute Shiba. I’ve attached a link to the Ims website so you can read about the Shiba and other dog breeds.
    The Shiba:
The Shiba Inu was developed as a hunting dog mainly for game such as rabbit, grouse and wild boar. He is a friendly, outgoing companion and excellent watchdog. He is cunning, bold and has an independent nature.
An active and agile dog, he does require a fair amount of exercise to burn off excess energy. The Shiba is seen participating in several dog sports and activities including agility, obedience, sledding, tracking and hunting. He is also used to work as a Therapy Dog, and as a Service Dog.

  11. Dear Madison,
We all know who I am “voting” for! lol You might want to consider this leadership idea. The Red Cross could use some help after Hurricane Sandy. Perhaps, you and your running mate-aka- The President, might want to fund raise for this worthy organization. The world is a better place because of young leaders like you and your friends.

  14. Hello, Madison!
It is inspiring to read that there are young people who wish to help others, including shelter animals. I am impressed with your goal to raise 100 dollars and would like to help you reach your goal. The world is a better place because of people like yourself. “Look for the helpers,” I always say and you are quickly becoming among the best!
PS- That impish leprechaun voki is wickedly cute!

  17. Hi, Madison! Well, I’m not certain about spirits but I have seen strange auras in a house. For a brief time, something was knocking on the wall of my house (and it wasn’t a woodpecker)! Perhaps spirits that feel the need to “stay” attempt to communicate with us. What do you think about spirits?
